Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Warriors Group

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure are included.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of heroes who will separate from the main group to begin their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.

This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).

The Reason for Division

Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.

Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might appear mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose death started the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his own means, invading the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.

The traitor then paid off his obligations and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the region and advises that it is a dangerous place.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could enable the group access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.

This means them no alternative but to head to the northern region in quest for the traitor.

What’s Next?

According to episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Explorers and Strategists tables.

Fans can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
