19 of the Russian's 21 championships have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev secured his first championship for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former number one, has had a challenging season, winning just one win at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - caused him exiting of the top ten and eventually separating with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial title since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.

Victory also signifies he has secured 21 victories at 21 different competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my children together, so to get a championship is particularly special," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, including in Halle earlier this year.

His defensive play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had caused observers to wonder if his capacity to play at the highest level was over.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an better service.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the last five points to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, took control to create a decider.

The opponent saved 4 initial chances in a close third set before Medvedev won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner secured the win with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
